This is the story of a village who sits next to the ocean,
I can't remember if it happened hundreds of years ago
or if it happened only yesterday, and I think it is that
petite village you passed by the other day and dreamed
to visit, if you go there, you will see that most of the men
are fishermen and the women are divers.
Why?
Because long, long ago, the sea king came with a handful of
magical pearls, this pearls will guide a maiden to his under-
water palace and once she gets there and delivers a pearl
to him, she will be granted a wish, her hearts desire.
The underwater palace appears only once every generation
or every two generations, so when the pearls starts to glitter,
the palace has arrived.
Today the time to reach the palace has come, and it came in
the most pressing of times, as our village is facing extinction.
It has been months since the last time our fishermen
caught something, if things go like this, it will be our
end, and our only hope lies within two girls, the new
bearers of the pearls, they have to deliver a pearl to
the sea king in time so he will aid us.
As I gave each one pearl, I also gave them two warnings,
the first, is that once the pearls touch salt water, they will
shine and lead them to the palace, but the magic wears off
after a few hours, if they don't go there in haste, the pearls
will dissapear and they will never have their wish. And
should I reming you girls that we are all counting on your
success?
The second warning is that, should you encounter the merfolk,
stay away from them, if you have the slightest contact with the
sea people, you risk of becoming one of them and be stuck in
the ocean forever.
The town greets the girls as they pass by, it is quite
a momentous moment, so its easy to understand why
everyone's excited.
What? You say you are an outsider and you don't know
who they are? Allow me to introduce them for you, the
one in the left wearing those fine clothing and jewelry
is the daughter of one of the wealthiest merchants not
only of this village, but the entire coastal region, she is the
best treasure hunter we have, so she is trained to spot
anything she seeks in haste.
The one in the right, wearing simple clothes, is merely the
daughter of a hard working, poor fisherman, she has,
however, become the best diver in town, so with
her ability to hold her breath for long periods of time and
with her love of the sea maybe she will find the palace.
With our best two candidates, the towns fate is garanteed,
at least, I surely hope so, without further ado they jump,
the sea is no stranger to them so they should be safe.
Or at least, that's what I thought......

The tail of the silverfox

Once upon a time, many many years ago, a young woman lived alone
in the woods with her father, a man that in the days of his youth was
such a successful huntman that he became wealthy and noble,
everything he had was hers to take, nothing was ever forbidden for
her to do, as her father adored her, there was only one thing she
was not meant to do, and that was, to enter a closed door on her
own house.
One fine day curiousity won while her father was away and she
entered the forbidden room, her father's collection of hunting
throphies was quite impressive, and she felt like a child
exploring every nick and corner of this room, and then she found it,
inside a cabinet, a huge, BEAUTIFUL silvery fox tail that was bigger
than any tail she had ever seen.
Upon touching it she felt the want, no, the need to hug it, holding it
that way made her feel so warm, so sad, she was intoxicated by the
strange sensation.
Then, as she was holding the tail, she saw how her nails were
enlogating, resembling claws, she thought she was seeing things
of course, as she kept watching her own hands her nails grew
even longer and silvery fur was covering her skin, fur that was
itching so much, she dropped the tail in order to scratch herself,
the itch just didn't went away, and she saw in horror how much
her hands kept reshaping, resembling.....paws?
Then, her attention focused on someone approaching this room,
who could it be? She was afraid it was her father, but it couldn't
be, he was away and he walks so silently he makes no noise as he
moves, an annoying habit he adquired from his hunting days.
Who entered her house? Was it a thief? The door opened and then
she saw what she dreaded so much.
Her father entered the room, furious, he scolded her very harshly and
then she interrupted him:
"Dad, I am sorry, I am so, so sorryyyy I disobeyed you, please
help me, what's happening to me? How do I stop this?"
"You can't, I told you not to enter this room, and you found that
tail I see, now, now you will become like her, like the animal this tail
used to belong to"
She? Did her father refered to that animal as a she? He sounded like
he knew this animal very well, and she could remember how nostalgic
she felt upon touching her skin, she asked her dad, demanding for an
answer, she begged her dad until he gave away, pointing at a
painting on the wall of a magnificent silverfox as large or larger than
a wolf, and he began a tale that started when he was young, long
before she was born....
When I was your age or a bit older perhaps, I was one of the greatest
hunters in my hometown, but that wasn't good enough for me, I
wished to become the greatest in the land, I wanted my tale to be
told to generations to come like those heroes of old, no, I had to
overshadow those heroes, to become inmortally famous, to be rich
and noble and live a comfortable life was my dream and it seemed
impossible then, until one day I heard a knock at the door...
Prince Dimitri summoned me to his court, I was one among many
other hunters whose skill was without pararel, one was from the
fabled land of lions, they say all the creatures there delight at nothing
more than eating man's flesh, so it's unhabitable. As proof of his
ventures he presented a tooth of something as big as a tower, the
tooth itself was larger than my leg and I could only shudder at
thinking what the rest of the animal looked like. Another hunter from
the land up north where is always hot and cold brought with him a
gigantic sea monster very well capable of sinking a great vessel,
who was I compared to these great men?
The prince wanted us to hunt a silverfox, all of us thought this was a
test or some sort of joke, specially when he said that this silverfox
was larger than a wolf and so clever that it's cunning suprassed that
of any hunter alive, we realized it was no joke when he offered great
riches and a noble title to the man who brought him the skin of this
beast, all of us thought it was too easy, that we would be back with
the prince within a week and that the difficulty lied in my
competition, yet this creature proved to be smarter than any of us,
before the first year ended, most of this legendary hunters went
home while I pushed forward.
I came so many times too close to kill my mark to see it dissappear
just before I could, if it wasn't a mindless beast I was dealing with,
I would say that it was trying to mock me...
The day I met the love of my life I was chasing after the silverfox,
my pride could not suffer any beast to consider itself smarter than
me, I had to prove to my prince and my peers that I was a hunter
worthy of my renown and I had to punish the continued mockeries
of that furred jester.
My perseverance paid off one good spring night when one of my
shots wounded the creature, its trail was fresh and I was already
savoring the wine of victory over the banquet that was to be held
in my honor once I returned with the silvery skin, but instead of
finding my throphy I found a naked woman laying in the snow.
I took her home without hesitation, took care of her wounds as
well as I could with help of a doctor friend and I fed her well,
I constantly got lost within the labyrinth of her forest green eyes,
whetever I saw her she would smile at me and made me feel
so grateful for all the attentions I was having with her, and it was
the not so called "nobleman's well breeding", she was completely
unlike the daughters of nobles, trained to talk, to walk and even to
feel differently from everyone else, always polite, always fake.
My lady showed me new rules of ettiquette outside that of the
house of nobles, that if you liked the soup you had to lick clean the
plate and your fingers, as spoons and forks never go in the mouth,
that delitious food had to be eaten very fast while she threw
everything she hated to the floor, that was she, completely
unrefined and noble, she lacked everything I wanted in a woman
except perhaps for her princely beauty, yet I must tell you it was
not how she looked that ensnared my heart, it was the way she
looked at me mixing gratefulness with love, telling me how much
she needed me.
I could talk endlessly about my love for her, how I forgot to hunt
for the silverfox everyday we were together and how we finally
got married, she didn't knew what marriage was and after
explaining she would spend the rest of her life with me she told
me she would marry only if she could stay with me 99 days a year,
after that I had to let her go, no following, no questions asked.
If I said no, she would leave me forever and she meant every word,
so I had to say yes, even as I didn't agree with that at all. So we lived
happily for, how long? I can't tell, as time was timeless when she was
there, she would arrive each spring and part of the summer, and
I would hunt the silverfox on autumn and winter, when it normally
showed up.
As I walked with my hunting rifle towards the fox I sang:
"After I kill the beast, I will buy my lady fancy food and dresses,
when I give it's skin to my prince, I will build her a house with a
thousand rooms
oh joy the beast is dead, oh joy the beast is dead...."
One fateful summer my wife fell ill, she had a strong fever and
she was so weak I insisted that she stopped walking around
and instead layed down on bed, she let me take care of her
and she would never let me go, she said that she was fine
and there was a sparkle on her eyes, as if something
wonderful was comming our way, even as my prudence told me
it was best to call my doctor friend she only wanted me at her side.
I had to leave my house to get us provitions for money, I
normally prefered to hunt something but she demanded
my undivided attention, it was on town where I saw an
envoy of the prince posting something on the
square, it was a pressing summon of all the hunter's of the
realm, even if I stayed home the envoy was surely going to
seek me there, unfortunately I had to attend this
meeting. I asked my friend to check on my wife while I was
gone and explain to her that I was to be absent for some days.
It took me longer than planned to come and go, when I got
back my friend congratulated me, as I was going to be a father,
he was eager to invite me some mead but I politely reyected his
invitation, remembering that I had to come back to her in haste,
as that day was the 100th day of the year, I had to prevent her
from leaving this time, how could I let her go knowing she was
bearing my child?
I slammed the door open to my own house and I startled my wife,
who had finished undressing a moment ago, what was she doing
naked on her condition?, I was to scold her when she gave me a
fearsome look, what I am to tell you I never told anyone so I would
appretiate you to never divulge this, she yelled at me:
"I waited for you, I waited and I waited and I waited I HATE YOU
how could you leave me like that? What kind of husband are you?
Don't tell me, you were after the fox again don't you? You prefer a
fox over me? Is that it? And on top of that you returned today and
saw me like this, I am sorry, you are no longer my husband, I don't
love you anymore."
"What are you talking about, I am here, I was late because...
The wound on her arm was opening, instead of flesh and blood she
had fur underneath, silvery hair that needed no introduction, among
tears of rage she said
"I will leave you now, don't try to stop me" I inmediately blocked
the door, I expected for the argument to continue, instead, her
eyes filled with rage, the rage of a cornered animal.
I continued to talk to her in my confusion, she was not listening,
in fact, that was not the woman I married, it was the
conniving fox I always tried to hunt, this was by far the cruelest
of all its jests, yet I continued to see my wife in the beast she
was becoming, lovingly persuading her to stay and change back,
her skin ripping and falling as the fox beneath it grew bigger
and feral, this was not the gentle and galant creature that I hunted
for years, I came to admire and respect that creature, instead,
standing before me was an infuriated monster wearing my wife's
face. Was she gone? Was she truly gone?
Whatever the answer was she gave me no choice, she attacked me
and I had to shoot her, I closed my eyes, expecting to listen how the
bullet pierced her heart, taking away forever all those happy years...
I had a perfect bullseye, my bullet was supposed
to kill her instantly and painlessly, it didn't happen,
my finger froze before the trigger.
If the silverfox appeared before me at any other
moment in my life I would have shot her happily,
before I knew she was my wife, before I was told
she was pregnant, how could I shoot her now?
She, however, had no issues on attacking me, I felt
no pain when she bit me, I remember I couldn't move
my hand and that my rifle dropped instantly, if it
wasn't for my trusty hunting knife I would be dead by
now...
As he kept telling his story, she understood that what
she was holding now was not the tail of a nameless animal,
this was all that remained of the mother she never knew,
but, if she really never knew her, why was she so sad?
Why was she holding her so tenderly as if she was seeking
her protection?
As she kept changing and her dress became shreds she
instinctly holded her mother's skin more and more, the panic
from turning into a monster, the embarassment from being
naked in front of her dad, all that terrified her as a lady was
diminished by an overflowing sensation that came from the
tail that made her calm and increasingly melancolic, what can it
be?
It is hard to tell because whatever it was, it came at a time before
she could use any words.... she was in a dark place, she was scared
of the thunder outside and then her mom wrapped her tail around
her protecting her from the cold, she was still scared and shaking,
then it happened....
She felt her mom's tongue caressing her, her wet touch made her
calm, the fear slowly went away until she finally slept cuddling under
her tail, the warmth of her fur made her feel safe, her constant
grooming made her feel loved....
She didn't realized that while she was lost on this wonderful sensation
she was licking her mother's tail the same way, when she realized she
didn't stop, in no moment she thought she was putting a filthy
thing on her mouth, how could she think of doing this to the one
she loved so much as being filthy? She was still seeking her warmth,
her love, but her tail was so cold now, lifeless, unmoving.
She cried her heart out hoping that what she was thinking
was not true then she opened her eyes and faced her dad directly,
asking him:
"Where is my mother? What happened to her?"
When she bit me no pain came, and it is true, she still had her
jaw locked in my arm, sinking her teeth harder and pulling
trying to rip it off, I had no time to wonder why I had no pain.
I took my knife and saw her right in the eyes, there was only
anger in the same place where my wive's green eyes used to
be, she was no longer the woman I married, the hand that
holded the knife trembled before I had enough strenght to do
what I needed to do, the knife was meant to thrust into her
head, killing her in a single painless blow, but, when I saw what
happened, I missed by a few inches, hitting my hand instead,
I passed out instantly, when I woke up, my doctor friend told
me he had to sever my whole arm to save my life although I
was still so very weak, the townspeaple expectations were that
I was not going to survive another night, yet, I lived, in constant
agony for many months, enduring all the pain I didn't had on
that day all day, all night, for time without end.....
One day I heard a knock on my door, and there you
were, a little baby on a basket at my door, she came
back and not even a hello, not even a goodbye, not many
days after I heard some hunters killed the silverfox, and
I bought off her tail and I kept it to remember her by.
While he was talking, his daughter, now a full fledged
silverfox, was mourning over her mom's tail...
He coudn't stand watching her being so sad, so he tried to
comfort her, she inmediately growled menacingly at him,
and he stood there, frozen in fear for a moment, until he saw
she was crying too, she was not behaving like an animal intending
to attack him, rather, she was mad at something
Why was she mad?
Well, how would YOU feel if you just found out your dad killed
your mom?
While she was listening to her father she refused to believe it,
to even think about it, but everything was so clear to her now.
What he said about hunters killing her mom, that was a lie, how
could a man with one arm support himself as a hunter and
even become rich? Why did he really had her tail in a throphy
room? All she could think of was one thing, his huge house and
all of his riches came from murder.
He, he took her life away, forever, for money. His daughter was
still on the verge of tears while she gritted her teeth against
him, he could only think of a reason why
She knew, there was no point to try to fool her now
"Yes, I killed her, the time I spent loving her, and the time I spent
hunting her werethe very best of my life, I would lie to you if I
didn't say that I enjoyed those long winters chasing after her
with my rifle on my hands but, you should know, why I killed
her, is not what you might be imagining.....
In those long agonizing month while I was recovering, I was
always in the border of life and death, and what kept me
living was the memories of the times I spent with my wife
and I realized those were my happiest days, I constanly
dreamt of holding my child on my arms, well, when I
closed my eyes, I had two arms, and I was cuddling you to
sleep and I saw my wife smiling at me and her deep
forest eyes met mine and I knew that I couldn't die, not just
yet, not without meeting my child and seeing what befell
of your mom, I feared the worst, as I heard that the prince
was getting anxious about getting the silverfox pelt, and more
hunting parties than ever were sent after the fox.....
When I recovered enought to walk I took my rifle and I head
to the wilderness, in many years, I was never able to catch the
silverfox, now that I was so weak, my chances were so very slim
and it was the walk of a hopeless man seeking a foolish dream,
she didn't wanted me in her life anymore, she was no longer my
wife and she was definitely not going to share her child with me,
still, I went on and found a very obvious track left by her, and
the snow stained with heavy amounts of blood.
I arrived to her den and I took out my rifle, not knowing what to
expect, she noticed I was there, actually, she always knew as she
left the trail for me to find. She could barely walk towards me, as
I could tell she recieved several gunshots and she should be resting,
she, however, prefered to spend an intimate moment with me,
she looked at me and I could see my wife in the fox, she was deeply
moved that I came back for her and she showed me her child, you,
sleeping on her den.
She couldn't talk yet I don't think I ever understood someone better
than her that day, she was begging me to kill her, I did not
understood why and when I insisted she changed back into a
woman or at least to come with me to town for medical attention
she just moved her head in reyection, whetever she couldn't change
back or didn't wanted to, I couldn't tell, she was so very weak, she
was not going to survive the night and her last moments would be
endured in a lot of pain, so, I did what I did to spare her the
suffering, because I knew this is what she wanted
You were so small, a cute little fox cub barely bigger
than my closed fist, you were smiling at me, unaware
of what happened to your mom, I hid you under my
clothing to keep you warm, and just moments after, I
heard someone comming.....
A royal hunting party greeted me, those were the
butchers that shot your mother, it was very fortunate
that I arrived when I did and that I hid you, if they found
you instead of me, you and your mom would have died
together, or maybe you would have been captured and
then skinned when you grew up, whatever the would want
to do with you, was definitely not what me or your mother
would have wanted. I had to tell them that I killed the
silverfox, much to their frustration as they were ready to
finish the kill and collect the reward, they insulted me in
many ways and I trully wanted to beat them up, but I
felt you were moving under my shirt, so I told them where
"their price" was and I went home to keep you safe.
When I arrived, I took you out and I expected to take out
a fox cub, instead, you were a baby, and a very beautiful
one, the last and most gorgeous gift my wife ever gave me
besides all of those blissful years at my side, yet, I didn't
knew then, that she left you another gift....

The other gift she left you was your life and your safety,
when I got home a few days later I was invited to the prince's
court, where he rewarded me handsomely not just because of
the hunt itself, although it was never a hunt, I had to lie and
invent an extravagant tale of the monster fox that took my
arm, killed my pregnant wife and of course, the fierce battle
I had until the beast was dead, that the prince wanted to hear,
and he rewarded me for her skin as well as to make me an
example of "his most loyal follower, an example for generations
to come, of the selfless devotion of the common man to his liegue."
I had to do that, and I understood something else, why your mother
didn't came back with me, I saw my wife in her, even as a fox, and I
saw you as what you are, my pretious daughter, but she could not
expect any human treatment from human beings, you and her were
going to die like animals and she wanted me to kill her because she
was providing for you, she gave you safety and the chance to live, so
the hunters would not find you, she gave you all this wealth in which
you have lived and she gave me the means to live in riches without
worrying to work, with one arm, it would have been very hard for me
to take care of you. And the tail, the prince gave it to me "as a
memento of a well fought battle" and I kept it, hidden away from
you, to remember her by and to remind me that what happened to
her will never happen to you...
You would think that it doesn't make sense, that she could have
though of a better plan, and I bet she didn't wanted to see me
again, afraid that she was going to meet a vengeful hunter instead
of a caring husband, and she cried as she saw I came back for her
and that I still loved her, to her it was more important to spend her
last moments with me than to try to save herself. She knew I would
take care of you, her eyes is something I cannot forget, you can
judge anything you want of your mother, and think she was foolish
to have done that, but once you have children of your own you will
understand the insanity parents go through for the sake of their
children.
I lived in fear one day you would change back into a fox, you never
did, but now you have, and now you know. I never told you anything
about her or what you were because of what you might think of me,
and because if you became a fox again, you might leave me, and you
will be hunted and killed like she was, please, stay, you can have
anything life has to offer here, in time you will surely become
a woman again, nobody has to know you became a fox....
Darya, oblivious of what he said, was determined to leave, listening
to the call of the wild, he even wondered if she was his daughter
anymore, and if she listened to what he said, and when she was in
the threshold of the door, she turned back and gazed at her father,
giving him a look no mere animal could ever give....she was asking
him for his blessing before she left to start her life away from her
father's protection.
He realized by the look she gave him that she was fully concious of
everything he said, not just that, she looked much more mature than
before, he wanted to let her go, but still, he was afraid of what might
happen to her.
So he didn't said yes
He didn't had to, his face shined in delight and she left, happy to
know she had such a loving dad, he caressed his wife tail one more
time and he said:
"I wish you could see her right now, you would be so proud..."
If you wondered what happend to Darya, it is a subject of long and
adventurous tales full of excitement and motherly love, but enough
is to say she lived long years, and she had many children born out of
love, who had a loving mother, husband and grandfather to take care
of them, all grew to become silverfoxes to continue their mother's
legacy, and, generation after generation people around that town
have claimed to see silverfoxes, the tapestries and paintings
depicting fox hunts are famous to this day, and the most gorgeous
are the silvery pelt ones, but what those artistic representations fail
to convey is that most of those hunts returned emptyhanded,
specially around the 19th century, when scholars declared that the
silverfox sightings were nothing more than a story.

The silverfox comic- Arania's vertion
This is Arania's vertion of the silverfox comic, I use the same
pages as illustrations in a short story and if you read both then
you will get to notice that both vertions have differences greater
than format, Arania's vertion, although inspired in mine, takes
the tale to another direction entirely, making it a unique tale.
Please click on each image to enlarge it so you all can read this
story. Hope you all enjoy it.

Hope you all liked and loved the comic vertion of
the silverfox story, not just the artwork but the story
itself as presented here came from her, it draws
certain things from the short story vertion true, but
this one sticks to a more fairy tale feel and makes
a perfect cohesion of the elements present in the story,
making it even more magical. I wish to hear your
comments.
Artwork and this vertion of the story belongs to Arania
and in a certain degree inspired by all those talks we had
on what could work and not work plot wise and she had
the difficulty of managing of telling this tale
in much less space than mine. Comments are very much
appretiated, for more of her work:

His daughter was still on the verge of tears while she gritted her
teeth against him, he could only think of a reason why
She knew, there was no point to try to fool her now
"Yes, I killed her, the time I spent loving her, and the time I spent
hunting her werethe very best of my life, I would lie to you if I
didn't say that I enjoyed those long winters chasing after her
with my rifle on my hands but, you should know, why I killed
her, is not what you might be imagining.....
Well, can anyone tell me why he did it?

HOS 5: She loves me, she loves me not

"There you are, your son will come looking for you tonight, isn't this what you always wanted? To be forever happy once he gets reunited with your family? But that won't happen, I know what you did to him, I know what kind of woman you are
I can see that you want him so badly, and also, I sense a great fear in you, you are AFRAID that one day he will come back, you are afraid of what your family will think of you once they know the real you. You will get what you want and what you fear tonight, you will get to see your son, and he will destroy you from the inside, and your other sons, Justin and Clementine, will know best never to trust their mother again, this is your punishment for what you did to poor little Miridin...
......
......
......
and to poor little me, stuck with him for 12 long years...
Earlier that day
Miridin, singing: "I'm going to meet my mother, I will have a family, I'm gonna meet my mother"
Ms. Scary: "Wait Miridin, remember what I told you?"
Miridin: "What?"
Ms. Scary: "Today is a very special day, I know you are very eager to enter your house and meet your....that woman, but first I want to show you something, you will just watch and learn, this will give you insight about many things."
Miridin: "But"
Ms. Scary: "Yeah I know, you want to try out what I taught you yesterday right? Hold your horses for a few minutes and then you can go inside your house to explore all you want."
Miridin could hardly wait to try out the new ability that was going to reunite him with his family at last...
Normally, Marguerite's house has a protection against evil that is very harmful to demons and half demons, in order to bypass this defense, Ms. Scary taught Miridin a cool ability called the dark shield
Miridin: "So let me see if I understood, I can enter my house as long as I focus on becoming a ghost?"
Ms. Scary: "Not a ghost silly, you can become insustancial, bodyless, like a ghost yes, that way the barrier won't harm you as much. While you are insustantial, you won't be able to touch anything, talk to anyone or be seen or heard, and since you will have to concentrate to maintain the dark shield, you won't be able to use your demon magic inside the house."
Miridin: "Ok, but what if I want to be seen or touch anything, is there a way?"
Ms. Scary: "You just drop the shield, you will become normal again, but the barrier will harm you."
Miridin: "So the plan is for me to enter my house, drop the shield for a few minutes to grab the book and leave?
Ms. Scary: Yes, that's the plan
Miridin thought Ms. Scary brought him here to fetch the fifth book, with that book both could get a wish, Ms. Scary knew already what to wish for, Miridin was really not interesed in the wish, he wanted a family and, above all, a mother. Ms. Scary, who can read the feelings of people, knows about this, so she is planning something quite sad for poor Miridin to make him more interesed in the book than his family...
"I told you today is a very special day, just take a peek inside the house, remember, nobody has to see you"
Miridin could hear songs of happiness inside, songs that would soon break his heart as he realized what they were singing....
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Justin happy birthday to you"
Ms. Scary: That boy over there is your twin brother Justin, they are celebrating his birthday.
Miridin: So today is my birthday?? That should be my party too
Ms. Scary: Nope, I said his birthday, pay attention, they are not mentioning any other name, just his
Miridin: And what about that other boy, why is my mother giving him presents?
Because she is so "kind" that she invited an orphan boy to "share" Justin's birthday, so he learns to be "giving" like her. I can read her feelings, it discusts me. Do you know why this isn't your party?
Miridin: IT IS MY PARTY SINCE IT'S MY BDAY!!!!!
Ms. Scary: Sorry to pop your ballon, but you don't even exist to them, don't you find this awkward?
Miridin:.....
Ms. Scary: That woman, the one that gave birth to you and him, prefered him over you, she threw you away when she felt your evilness, she did this to protect her other son, you are nothing to her, you should take the book, forget about her, and come home.
Miridin: No, those are lies lies lies.
Ms. Scary: Ok, go into the house then, see what happens.
He tried entering his house again, he dropped the dark shield for a little while to get close to the cake and grab a bite, Justin, sensing something evil, inmediately ran towards the kitty, the same kitty that came the night before.
How did the family reunion went? Not so well, Justin tried to step on the kitty like if some vermin entered his house, he wished he had a broom or a big stick to hit him better, Miridin ran, scared and very tempted to use his dark magic against his brother. But he refrained, he still wanted to be friends with him.
Miridin hear a woman's voice upstairs, could it be his mom?
Yes!!! Miridin placed himself in front of her, about to cast away dark shield so she can see him, so she can hold him and....
Shoot, Justin just arrived up here as well, as if he was protecting his mother.
" "His" mother, OUR mother", Miridin thought angrily, being quite annoyed that he treated her as if he owned her. He couldn't help but feel very resentful towards Justin, why was he so selfish?
Miridin started leaving, head down in defeat and quite blue, he forgot he needed to concentrate to keep the dark shield up so he became visible once he was downstairs, Justin, being able to sense evil presences, freaked out and chased him away
Miridin, once outside, looked at Justin at the window, he was still looking at his direction, pretty much like a guardian dog.
Ms. Scary: Ooops I forgot to tell you, that "brother" of yours can sense evil, I bet you noticed by now.
Miridin: Not funny.
Ms. Scary: "You are pissed off, and you feel bad for being angry at him because you are not meant to, because you think you are supposed to "love" your brother, did he loved you? Did he allowed you to see her? No.
Let me tell you one more thing, why can he see evil?"
Miridin: I don't know, I don't care.
Ms. Scary: Let me give you a clue, he was born being capable of seeing evil, you were born with an evil aura, do I need to say more?
Miridin: "You don't mean that he's..."
Ms. Scary: "Yes, many witch hunters and inquisitors in the distant past were renowned for being capable of seeing evil, go on, go to a library and check how witch trials were conducted. Your brother is a cowardly overpampered kid right now, but, it we let him live, he might grow to be dangerous.
He is your enemy Miridin, he won't let you get close to that woman you call mother..."
Miridin: You said it
Ms. Scary: What?
Miridin: Mother, yesterday you beated me when I tried to say that.
Ms. Scary: I am sorry, I...was in a bad mood yesterday, don't mind that.
"Look, you won't have a mother while Justin and your sister are around your house, get the point, YOUR MOM ABANDONED YOU TO KEEP JUSTIN SAFE, and now that she has another child, she has another reason not to let you in. Justin hates you, he won't try to talk to you or be "friends", would you be friends with a bad man trying to break into your house? Justin is bad news to you, and the only way of you to get your mom is to make both of your brother's dissapear.
Miridin: Dissapear?
Ms. Scary: Yes, with the fifth book you can wish for history to be rewritten, a small moment in the past can be changed, you can wish that you were the only child of your mother, Justin would have never been born, or Clementine, your sister.
Miridin: But, isn't that a bit....cruel?
Ms Scary: Cruel was the way she abandoned you, cruel was the way you have lived so far and how hard Justin fights to deny you of what's yours, so they deserve happiness and you don't, gee, no wonder why you are so depressing all the time, think it over
Miridin could not sleep well that night, the words from Ms. Scary still ringing on his ears:
"You mom abandoned you for the sake of Justin"
"You will never get along with Justin, he is your enemy"
"That home has a barrier against goodness to keep YOU away from harming them"
He was considering if it really was that way, if he was entirely denied of having a family and the only way of getting his mother is to wish his brothers to dissapear from existance. Sounds so mean but....
He was so confused, what should he do? He had so many questions, he sneaked away at night while Ms. Scary was sleeping to go to his own house to investigate the truth, maybe he will find solid proof that his mother loves him, that she had a good reason for abandoning him, and maybe, just maybe, he could stay with her forever.
A black kitty entered Marguerite's house
And mere seconds later he was a boy!!! How did this happen?
Miridin is a boy who was born with a vast amount of dark magic, even as a baby, he was more powerful than Ms. Scary, and he can break his curse that keeps him as a kitty whetever he wants. But why he doesn't do so? Why does he chooses to be a cat?
He doesn't, actually, in order to control him and keep the curse in place, Ms. Scary always makes him feel so small, so insignificant and pitiful, he thinks he can't break the curse when she is around, he thinks it depends on HER will to ALLOW him to be human, when actually, he can do so quite easily. Whetever he is alone, when Ms. Scary is not around, he feels more confident on himself, his confidence breaks the curse, at least, as long as she is not there with him.
As he walked towards his mother's room, he saw a lot of pictures on the wall
His brothers were having a wonderful vacation on the beach
His mom was there as well, everyone was so happy but
He was not there, Miridin just saw an empty space where he should be.
"I should have been there, I wish I was"
And more and more pictured lined the walls, making him increasingly depressed on how many things he have missed, on how much his mom adores her children, all of them
"but me........"
Still hopeful to find something, he keeps searching
Upon reaching his mother's room, he found her sleeping so soundly that he didn't wanted to wake her up, not yet, he was so nervous, he stared at her for several minutes and he was moving around the room like crazy, constantly thinking on what to say, fantacizing on the moment that she woke up.
Meanwhile he found on the drawer a photo album, he browsed it, it was full of pictures, most of them of Clementine and.....ughhhh.....Justin, there were even teeth and hair of both of them, old drawings and A+ homeworks, just 2 of Justin, plenty for Clementine. But those 2 of Justin were placed in a special place, as if they were more valuable.
He couldn't watch anymore, it just made him mad that there was no teeth, no hair, no exam of himself, nothing her mother kept to remember him by.
On top of a table, in a special place, there was a bear with hardened lips.
"Strange", he thought, he picked it up to watch it closer and then he say a red hair, Justin's, on the bear
"Ewwwwww this was his toy" And he inmediately tossed it away, who wanted a toy Justin owned?
Everything that came from Justin was a treasure to his mom, and nothing, she had nothing of
"me"
*sobs*
When Miridin stopped crying, he gathered courage to face his mom, so many emotions building up inside of him, he called out to her, and she kept sleeping, he called again and again she slept, he tried and tried and no matter what he did, she kept on sleeping.
Then, suddenly, he turned into a cat again.....
"What, why did this happen?"
Ms. Scary: "Surprise surprise, I took the liberty of coming here before you, next time you want to sneak away from me, remember I can read your emotions."
Miridin: What did you do to her?
Ms. Scary: Just spoiling a nice family reunion that's all, I put her to sleep, Miridin, are you sure you want to stay with her? You don't know anything about her and why she really left you, if I were you I would....
Miridin: Look, she loves me ok, I just know, there's nothing you can do or say to
Ms. Scary: Really? Nothing I can do or say? IF you are so positive of her love for you why don't you come with me to the inside of her mind? I can enter her mind and I can take you with me, and then you will see very clearly what kind of woman she is. You have nothing to lose.
Miridin: No!!!!
Ms. Scary: Why not? What can you lose?
Miridin: Other that when you do that people end up dead, sick or crazy? No thank you, I don't want my mother to suffer any harm
Ms. Scary: Fine, have it your way then
Have you considered using the book to get your wish? You can go back to that moment, you know, when you were abandoned, you can make your mother keep you, of course, Justin have to go, you can wish him out of existance so he won't bother you. You can erase in one go all those unhappy years you went through, isn't that what you always wanted?
Miridin: One question, if I go back in time and do as you say, that means I would have never met you, would you miss me?
Ms. Scary: How could I miss you if I never met you? It doesn't make sense.
Miridin: But, do you love me now?
Ms. Scary: Of course I do silly, how can you question me? I always loved you.
She was being unnaturaly kind to him tonight, she would normally insult him whetever that question arised, he gave in to her gesture, and in amoment when he felt loved he said to her.
"I love you too, you have been a mother and a sister to me"
Ms. Scary started to cough blood, but she covered her mouth and said:
"What did you said?"
I said you are like a mo
Miridin got out of the house, confused and wondering what just happened to Ms. Scary
He was licking her hands as a gesture of love, as soon as he did that, her wrists opened as if his tongue was a sharp blade, she looked up upon her face, she was terrified.
"Stop, stop doing that please, you are hurting me"
She was staring blankly into space, not really speaking to him, all of her was bleeding and her eyes were consumed in grief, crying blood
Miridin stood next to the small river that crosses his house, he was planning on invoking Baphomet's wisdom, he normally doesn't lie to do so, as the demon usually shows him horrible things and he feels bad afterwards, but he had to know.
"Baphomet, show me what's happening to her"
He had to refrain the visions that overflooded him, because they were really hurtful, no matter how much Baphomet sent to him, he had to be strong and resist the impulse to know more, otherwise, he knew he would regret it....
Yesterday she constantly bullied him whetever he was about to say the M word, mother, she said things like
"Don't use that word"
"What word?"
Ms. Scary: the M word, you know the one
Yesterday she even kicked him when he was about to say it, but it was not the word that annoyed her....
When she was holding him and petting him yesterday, he dreamt about his mother, that's when she started to cough up blood and bleed.
And today, when he told her she was like a mother and a sister to him, she reacted even worse than yesterday. Ms. Scary can read emotions, but it seems a particular one hurts her very much, Miridin have always wanted to have happy memories about his mom, or even sad ones, anything that could remind him of her, Ms. Scary, on the other hand, whetever she thinks about her mother, wounds open up all over her body, KNIFE like wounds that bleed profusely.
Miridin wetted his pants, tears clouding his vision from what he was seeing, and he purposely didn't digged very much, if he did, Baphomet would have showed him even worse things.
Then, other kind of visions not related to Ms. Scary flashed before him...
In the pictures he saw in the wall Miridin was not present, his mother didn't conmemorated his birthday or kept anything from him. Ms. Scary warned him that maybe his mom was not what she thought she was, that he didn't knew what kind of woman she really is and why she abandoned him, he couldn't help but feel so defenseless
Does she loves me, do she really loves me? How can I know? As he was busy minding his thoughts Ms. Scary showed up
Ms. Scary: "Here you are, ewwww, why do you smell????"
Miridin: "Look, I'm in a bad mood right now, so let's make this short, you can show me the inside of my mother's mind?"
Ms. Scary: "Yes, but it the memory you are seeking is very dug up and is particularily painful, then it will be heavily guarded, the only way for me to show you would be by placing a comma upon your mom"
Miridin: "Fine, but I will be the one casting the spell, I need to research tonight how to induce a friendly comma upon her that won't hard her much"
Was this the same Miridin she always knew, he was a boy right now, and he was disturbed by something, and he was looking upon her with so much pity, what is he up to?
As she tried to read his feeling she realized he called upon Baphomet's wisdom, then she got out of his mind in fear of what she might find, where Baphomet enters, is bad news and she doesn't want to know. However, what did he showed him to make him positive he want to induce his own mother into a comma?
Justin, the real Justin, arrived just in time to hear what they were planning and he was definitely not happy about it.
Will he save his mom in time?
Is he and Clementine in danger?
Read more about it in the next installment, HOS 6, the brother I was supposed not to have.

HOS 4: The scars of the warrior

Here it is Miridin, do you like it?
Miridin: "Wow, this place is so big!!!"
Ms. Scary took Miridin to Marguerite's house, his mother's house, heart racing fast from anticipation, he was already thinking what to say when he finally got reunited to his mom,
nerviously watching his own house for several minutes feeling as a boy who just won the lottery.
Ms. Scary was not at all happy, why was she not happy?
Miridin: "Is something the matter?"
Ms. Scary: ......It's nothing. You will want to meet her right? You know, that woman?
Miridin: You mean my mo...
Ms Scary: Yes that one, just get inside the house will you
Outside, his house had such a cozy feel, bearing an air of family love and unity that had been denied from him for so long. He raced as fast as he could to the mother that he supposed would be waiting for him with open arms, the door opened by itself, as if by magic, he was sure to be welcomed....
Instead, once he was inside, he understood why Ms. Scary didn't came in, there was a power here, a power of goodness that was very hurtful to him. He felt dizzy, then came the pain, the room kept spinning and spinning and at times his eyesight got blurry, if he didn't got out as soon as he did, maybe he would pass away.
"You knew it, you knew it, you knew it!!!" Miridin yelled in an angry tone
"Why didn't you tell me?"
Ms. Scary: "What? That the house doesn't welcome you? I wanted you to see for yourself"
Miridin: "Lies, there's some sort of protection that is very hurtful to demons, it is affecting me and you must feel it too, that oppresive energy???...." He wanted to continue talking and arguing, seeking a sign of approval from Ms. Scary, she just crossed her arms and said:
"Ok genius, if your family really doesn't want demons in their lives, why do they keep the fifth book, to SUMMON demons power, in their bookcase?"
Miridin: "I don't know, maybe they have it to safekeep it so it won't fall into the wrong hands? They placed a barrier against dark powers to keep bad guys away???" He was greeted with the same indifference, as if he was only capable of saying the dumbest of things.
“ You watch too much TV, people who hate snakes don’t keep snakes as pets, if you keep a gun in your house is because you think the gun somehow protects you, or makes you more powerful, if they really didn’t liked demons, they wouldn’t “safekeep” the book when it can harm them, where her other kids could reach it...”
Miridin: "Other kids??? I have brothers???"
Ms. Scary: "A brother and a sister, I wouldn't call them brothers if I was you, they are more like your competition"
Miridin: "Huh??"
Ms. Scary: "That barrier was not placed there to keep demons away, it was to keep YOU away, so you woudn't harm THEM, YOU are a threat to them, that woman got rid of you because"
Miridin: "That's not true, it can't be, my mommy would never"
Ms. Scary: "Shhh"
Miridin: "What?"
Ms. Scary: "Don't use that word, it annoys me when you say it"
Miridin: "What word?"
Ms: Scary: "The M word, you know the one"
Miridin: "You mean mo"
Ms. Scary: "Hush, you make it sound like if she was the most wonderful being in the universe, protecting, forever loving, someone who would take care of you no matter what, don't you find it strange, that she ABANDONED you? Is there a good reason for someone as "wonderful" as her to abandon one of her own children?"
Meridin: "She loves me, I know she does, maybe she was starving and we were very poor and..."
Ms Scary: "Are you even listening to what you are saying? A good woman would rather starve than to watch a baby of her die, even animals get it, why don't you? Don't use the M word again, refer to her as the woman that had you, or you can also call her..."
"Owww why did you bite me for?"
Miridin: "You were going to insult my mo..."
He didn't finish that sencence, Ms. Scary kicked him and sent him flying a foot away, luckily he is sturdier that he looks and wasn't hurt as much as his feelings, she is normally not physicaly abusive to him, why now?
Miridin felt full of curiosity over what was bothering her, so risking being hurt again, he asked:
"Tell me, did you had any parents?"
Ms: Scary: "What kind of question is that? Do I look like a flower or a tree? Of course I had parents just like everybody else"
Miridin: "Did they loved you very much?" He looked away and shook a little, expecting her to yell at him or kick him again, instead, she came close, grabbed him and stocked him gently.
Ms. Scary: I know where you are going, you are desperate to have a good memory of your parents, to feel loved by them, is alright, I feel lonely at times too, tomorrow I will bring you here again and you will get to see for yourself whetever you are loved or not."
Being strocked like that made him fall asleep on her arms, she was being gentle with him, while he slept, he dreamt for a split second that it was his mother touching him that way, it was a very sweet dream that would be interrupted by a violent and unexpected behavior from Ms. Scary:
She threw him 5 feet away as if he was some kind of baseball, when he landed he saw blood all over himself, he was hurt some, yes, but the blood was not his own, she didn't threw him out of nastiness as he could see from far away quite a macabre spectacle...
She was coughing up blood, it was hard to tell as he was watching her
back, her arms and legs bled profusely, and if that wasn't creepy
